Things to do
The Swinside lnn is located in the central Lake District nestled in the beautiful Newlands Valley we are surrounded by stunning scenery with Catbells and Derwentwater right on our doorstep and an easy walk from the pub.
We are near the popular market town of Keswick, which has an enormous range of things to do during your stay at the Swinside Inn. Keswick has a great variety of shops, visitor centres and museums allowing you to make a full day of your trip into town.
The Swinside Inn is less than half a mile from Derwentwater. There are footpaths going around the lake that make an ideal scenic walk. If you are looking to do a different activity, a number of boating and water sports providers are located around the lake. Activities include paddle boarding, canoeing, sailing, fishing, motorboat hire and a launch service that can take you to Keswick or around the lake.
As well as being at the foot of Catbells, the Swinside lnn is only a short drive to the starting point of Scafell Pike, Helvellyn and Skiddaw, as well as many other iconic Lake District fells. Other routes such as the Newlands and Coledale horseshoes can be started right from the pub.
Additionally, there is a choice of biking routes that can also be completed right from the pub door. Some of these include Newlands pass, Honister pass and the Borrowdale bash to name a few. Whinlatter Forest Park is also close by, this has some of the most extensive mountain bike trials in the country, as well as a visitor centre. The Swinside Inn is in partnership with Lake District Offroad, which offers electric mountain bike hire two minutes from the pub.
