Take a break from the December chill and warm up with a festive lunch at The Swinside Inn, where hearty Cumbrian favourites meet Christmas flavours from the Lakes.
Try our Soup of the Day with warm bread and whipped butter, Soy Glazed Crispy Chicken with spring onions, chilli and toasted sesame, or a bowl of olives tossed with feta and semi-dried tomatoes.
Our open sandwiches, served on toasted Panesco bread, make for a satisfying midday treat. Choose from a Haddock Fish Finger sandwich with tartare sauce and crushed peas. For something extra indulgent, try Grilled Chicken with crispy pancetta, avocado and gem lettuce, or a truly seasonal Roasted Turkey sandwich layered with pigs in blankets, brie and cranberry sauce.

As evening settles over the fells, join us for a festive dinner crafted around winter flavours and local produce. Start with elegant seasonal dishes such as our Twice Baked Torpenhow Cheese Soufflé, or Brown Butter Poached Smoked Haddock with warm tartare sauce. For something richer, try Lingholm Estate Partridge or Wild Duck Terrine, both paired with warming winter fruits.
Main courses showcase the heart of the season: Lingholm Estate Pheasant Breast with truffled celeriac, Venison Loin with braised shoulder and red cabbage, or our traditional Ballotine of Turkey served with pigs in blankets and honey-roasted roots.
If you prefer something lighter you’ll enjoy the Steamed Cod Loin in a mussel and potato potage, while vegetarians can savour the Roasted Pumpkin & Squash Risotto with aged feta and crispy sage.

Settle in for a relaxed Sunday with one of our traditional roasts.
Choose from slow-roasted sirloin of beef or leg of lamb; both served with all the trimmings – duck fat roasties, seasonal veg, cauliflower cheese and a proper Yorkshire pudding. Try the roast cauliflower for a lighter option. Start with a comforting soup or house-smoked salmon, and leave room for dessert – the sticky toffee is so worth it.
